Dear All

Sorry I have been quiet with my blogs, however over the past three weeks I
have been training to further improve my skills so I can offer my clients the
best service possible.

So WHAT have I been up to?

In this blog I will be outlining and explaining the recent training that I
have carried out.

Over the past few years the BUZZ word in the fitness industry has
beenFUNCTIONAL , But what does this mean????

Simply put functional moves mimic everyday movements that we all carry out,
from picking up a bag, to playing sport.

But why is this important?  Well we all want to be able to carry out our
everyday life to the best of our ability and do it injury free.

So what are fitness companies doing???  Fitness companies are constantly
researching ways and means improve functional fitness, through different
training methods which are time efficient and tools that mimic everyday
movements to achieve better performance or support everyday life.

Functional fitness moves are designed for everyone from top athletes to
beginners and people recovering from injury.

My Training
I have attended traiuning in both

1- TRX Suspension trainer

2- RIP Trainer

For this blog I will be looking at the TRX RIP Trainer which I recently
attended a training course in.

In this blog I will cover

Background of RIP
Purpose
Benefits

TRX as a brand started with the Suspension trainer, and in the past 18 months
the  RIP trainer been developed.  It was designed by a Physiotherapist called
Pete Holman who also participated in combat sport, who now works with TRX who branded and developed the product.

As a Physio he understood the importance of developing rotational power and
initially it was created to meet the needs of combat sport athletes and physical
therapists.

Purpose

The TRX RIP develops the ability to withstand the external forces that are
put on the body in everyday life whether in sport or normal day to day living.
It was designed to develop rotational speed and power under asymmetrical (one sided) loading.  Rip Training utilizes elastic resistance that allows for
high-speed, low-load rotational movement training or low-speed, high-load
rotational movement training.

Looking at the TRX Rip trainer it is simply a lever bar and resistance cord.
It is unique in that it requires complete control of the entire kinetic chain.
It connects both upper and lower body with every movement through the core
enabling more balance and co-ordination.

Benefits
 It Offers

Ability to train strength and cardiovascular in every plane of motion,

Ability to be used as a rehab tool, and a regenerative tool,

Unlimited movements which, when performed properly, enhance fluidity and
range of motion and decrease the risk of injury

Exercises for all levels of fitness.

My Experience.

I was very fortunate that the training was delivered by one of TRX Master
Trainers Dan McDonagh who was a great tutor for the day whom I learnt alot from.   We also experienced a workout and it was fantastic to see and experience that such a lightweight small tool can produce so many moves and can challenge the majority of fitness components and mimic movements applicable to most things.

Myself and another trainer from Riyadh attended the course and I believe that we are the only trainers in Riyadh that have attended the training. So our clients are reaping the benefits :).

I have been using it in my TRX courses and one to one PTs and they are
hooked.
